February 2021 : Barcarolle Choir

Initiative of the month

This month we take a look at the original and digital initiative, taken by the singers of  the Barcarolle Choir, a women’s choir based in South Kensington since 2012. They are continuing their activity despite the pandemic: rehearsals and singing class via Zoom!

When the first lockdown was announced, the Committee and the Choir Director, Sam Evans, quickly opted to continue rehearsing online, via Zoom. For the second lockdown, it was even decided to bring together the singers of the two different groups that make up the choir: a new challenge faced with a smile and good spirits. A good collective learning experience that ended with a session of Christmas carols and a virtual drink!

Unfortunately, the second lockdown began on the same day that the Barcarolle Choir was due to resume rehearsals at the Holy Trinity Church in Kensington. However, the singers did let that bring them down and they resumed rehearsals via Zoom in January.

For more information, you can visit them on their (newly re-designed) website (www.barcarollechoir.com) and follow the choir on social media:  (@barcarolle choir) FacebookTwitter and Instagram. You can also contact the Barcarolle Choir by email at this address info@barcarollechoir.com. The Barcarolle Choir is always happy to welcome new singers. You can try out for free.
